Mountainview Family,
A decade ago our church leadership made some adjustments in the way we manage our finances. One important change was to implement the use of an annual Budget Planning Card. This system has proved to be a huge help for our finance team. With the information from these cards, they are able to determine a fairly accurate idea of what the church’s income might look like for the upcoming fiscal year. This realistic projection of income allows the church leadership to “live within our means” as we prepare an expense budget, which includes local and global missions, ministries, staffing, capital improvements, and mortgage debt reduction.
We believe being generous in life is one of the important rhythms every Christian should be practicing. Our budget planning communication system gives all of us an opportunity to consider our own finances and generosity. It’s possible that some of you may decide to begin giving to Mountainview for the first time - even if it might be challenging to do so. For others, it may be time to consider adjusting what you give.
Historically, Mountainview has been a very generous church. Sacrifice and generosity are part of our DNA. We budget for local and global outreach but go even further with additional individual gifts, group mission trips, and local projects. Mountainview is continuing to make a difference in the lives of people.
I’m inviting all of us who consider Mountainview our church home to communicate with our Finance Team by using the link below. This confidential form and the information will only be used for planning purposes. If you prefer, paper cards are available in the office or as you exit the worship center on Sunday morning. Thank you for your participation in this important aspect of our church family.
I am excited about the way Jesus is changing lives around us. Join me and pray for the work He is doing, and look for opportunities to partner with Him.

Common Threads
I’d like to highlight a ministry in our church family that some of you may not be aware of. It’s called Common Threads. It’s made up of several women who have a passion for quilting. They use their gift to comfort and bless people at Mountainview, in our local community, and across the globe.
The Common Threads quilting group gathers frequently to share life and sew together. The quilts they produce are typically given to people who need comfort or encouragement because of an upcoming medical procedure, a chronic illness, or are recovering from an injury. These quilts are a beautiful reminder that we are not alone.
In the past, Common Threads has provided dozens of quilts for the local Pregnancy Resource Center, Mt. Hood Hospital Oncology Department, Missions of Hope International (in Kenya, Africa), and the Veterans Quilts of Valor celebration.
If you enjoy quilting or would like to learn how to quilt, you can reply to this email. I’ll get you connected with Debra Tomlin, their fearless leader.
Stressed Out
I shared last Sunday about how Matthew recorded something beautiful and unique about Jesus and stress. The life Jesus offers is completely different from what religious people or politicians could ever offer. It’s real life, not based on the things of the world, but on and in Him.
Put this verse in your memory…
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:28-29 ESV
Please plan to join us in person or online at 9:00 or 10:40 am on Sunday as we look for ways to stress less in our lives.
See You Sunday,
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Tom
